Bob Hankin

info

Welcome to my little bio page. From time to time I use this space to test out ideas or demo concepts or techniques in class. So if it looks off - don't worry - its just me playing.

I'm the program director for the graphic design program at Bellevue University. I've been teaching since 2000 with the 2011/2012 academic year marking my eighth year at BU. The graphic design program is in constant flux (as is the design field)—keeping up with everything is tough.

When not working (which seems like a few hours a week) I spend my time hangin' with my 12 year old son. We longboard as much as we can and are avid fans of Formula One racing (Ferrari!). He also likes to destroy me in just about any XBox 360 game. He's the best and keeps me going.

My passion for design is fueled by just about everything. Lately I find myself reading about, looking at and creating street art (stickers, stencils, and graffiti). I also love old water tanks and cargo storage containers. I don't do much "fine art" since my drawing skills lack skill but I do sketch to keep the fingers and eyes in sync. These days you might find me with a can of spray paint in my hands.

You'll find all kinds of music on my very old iPod; everything from jazz (huge Miles Davis fan) to industrial and lots of electronic stuff (DnB, etc.). I'm teaching myself how to dj. Don't worry, I won't be in a club near you any time soon.
